OUR FAMILY
Not only was the Mission Zion Christian Fellowship our home church since 1993, but both our boys were worship leaders at the church consecutively since that time as well. Randy our youngest son – during his first year of Bible School, (1993-’94) he attended the Western Pentecostal Assemblies Bible College in Abbotsford. The end of the first year he received a scholarship from the college and in 1994 he was married to his beautiful bride, Sharon who was already living in St. Petersburg Florida. The next two years Randy completed his Bible School training (4 years completed in 3 years total with honors and top marks - 100% average.) The next six years he became the music pastor in Pinellas Community Church, in St. Petersburg. Randy is an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God in the USA. The last three years he has been taking university courses toward becoming a Physiotherapist, and is presently (June 2006) doing his internship in the same profession. We have one beautiful grandson whom we do not get a chance to see very often living so far apart. Randy’s wife Sharon (a beautiful Christian woman) landed a full time job, at the Children’s Hospital in St. Pete in 1992. In Canada she was not able to get a fulltime job anywhere – despite the fact that she also took four years of training, and graduated with top honors from the Ryerson University near Toronto. Went to a job fair in Toronto – where we were living at the time, and had several jobs offered to her but all in the USA and chose the children’s hospital, in St. Pete. She worked in the Cancer ward for the first several years, and has been for the past several years been in charge of the nurses department for the hospital. Sharon and Randy were engaged at a young age, and were married when Randy was 20 years old in 1994. Since that time they have lived in St. Petersburg to this day. Serving God, and living the life of God with many of its challenges that come with being a pastor and again the intense training that university courses demand: raising a son (our grandson), and Sharon working full time. What a life and what a blessing to see the Lord in their lives. Randy also has been involved in leading worship at the Methodist church they have been attending in St. Pete as well, and what a credit they are to the Kingdom of Heaven! Our oldest son, after attending Living Faith Bible College in Caroline Alberta for four years in the early 1990s, became assistant pastor and worship leader at the Mission Zion Christian Fellowship, until he was married to (also a beautiful Christian wife) Connie Jakab. Connie was by this time already the Children’s pastor at the Harvest City Church in Vancouver. They were both involved in music for several years there as well, and then moved on with Connie working for the Pentecostal Assemblies head office as the leader of the children’s ministry for British Columbia and Yukon District. Reuben the past several years has been involved in secular work, but we are so excited to see the hand of the Lord on their lives as well! Connie began a business of her own the past 2 years, Shock Productions, in the warehouse at the Broadway Church in Vancouver. She has been teaching ‘hip hop’ in some of the public schools in the Lower-mainland area of Vancouver, BC as well as the dance studio next to the Broadway Church. Out of this several new converts have also been won into Gods Kingdom. A radical way of doing street ministry, by getting literally hundreds of young people off the streets, and into bringing out in them the hidden talents that God has given them. Connie is well known by some who are being used by God to shake our nation for Christ. |
