We found Nessie, a child of a homeless family, begging to support the family.  They have been homeless since the floods of 2000 when their land and mud hut was washed away.  We were able to get land and a garden spot from the chief who was the pastor’s father.  We were then able to build a hut similar to the ones surrounding them.  The dress Nessie has on and the one I am holding are part of the clothing we were able to buy for the family.  We were also able to give and leave enough money behind to feed the family until March or April of 2006, when they get their maize (corn) crop in.  By then they should be self-sufficient once again and back on their feet!

Getting close to the final stages of the home being built for Nessie’s family. Her mother (with baby on her back) the little brother and Nessie are standing with  me (Martha). The Abusa (pastor) and his daughter are on the left side.
