Projects For 2006

Here is an update regarding the money for the village type hospital, to date June 2006:

We were able to donate 45% of the money needed (in Canadian Funds) but we still need another 55% (in Canadian Funds) to complete the project. We chose not to post the amounts but if you would like information you can contact us via phone, snail-mail, or e-mail. We are well on our way covering the cost of the building & medicines etc. At present, Dr. Kachika has to buy all the medication himself, except medication for aids, and family planning - the government kicks in on those 2 items only. The Dr. and the people who have nothing have to pay for the rest. This area of the country was devastated this past December by Flooding (over 44,000 people were left homeless) and drought conditions that have also devastated the area over the past two years now.

Martha and I are currently making arrangements to return to Malawi and also Mozambique in the near future: to help build the small private hospital in the Lower Shire area of the country and also to minister to the people living in those areas. Malawi has now been devastated by drought going into the second year, and floods in the lower Shire during December, that wiped out the crops and left over 44,000 people homeless. We are planning to be there for sure in September through November.

Luke 16:9 is such a profound scripture when it comes to this: It tells us “to make yourselves friends with the mammon of unrighteousness” (money) – The reason Jesus called it this is because the Love of money is the root of all evil – But He tells us to make friends with money and when we use it the right way – and that is to help the poor, the widows and the orphans: then when we fail, and pass over to the other side, “They – All those people we have helped in this life, and who have gone before us, will be there to receive us and to welcome us into everlasting habitations.”

Our next project is to help get a 42 foot container to Tannekens and Pastor Rego in Beira in Mozambique - filled with dried food and clothing. That would keep them going for a while. The project will cost $4,000 Canadian to buy the container so it can stay with her to use for safe storage for the food and clothing. Shipping the container by truck would be about $1,500 CDN funds, and shipping the container is around $10,000 CDN and handling charges at this end would be about another $2,000 CDN. The total amount required would be about $17,500 CDN Funds. We will be posting pictures and linkes from the Global Emergency Missions Society (GEMS) who will be partnering with us in this project.
